"Sixty Glorious Years"

October sees the first play in our second season as Penwortham Players. We are now looking forward to our October Play "MURDER in PLAY" a comedy thriller written by Simon Brett which will be performed on 18th, 20th, and 21st October 2017 and will be directed by Maria Adamson. "Boris Smolensky's budget repertory production of "Murder at Priorswell Manor" is looking decidedly shaky. The cast are more interested in their egos than the play and life imitates art when Boris's wife Renee, is murdered on stage. Simon Brett's hilarious text, a worthy companion to his Charles Paris theatrical thriller novels, ruthlessly satirizes the politics of the inept company and the numerous red herrings keep the audiance guessing until the final moments of the play"

Simon Brett by himself

I am Simon Brett, the writer responsible for the Charles Paris, Mrs Pargeter, Fethering and Blotto & Twinks series of crime novels. I was very honoured to be awarded an OBE in the 2016 New Year's Honours 'for services to literature'. Round the same time I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, thus providing me with some more letters to put after my name. Then back in 2014 I was presented with The CWA Diamond Dagger, one of the highest accolades in the crime writing world. My writing also includes comedy in radio and television series such as No Commitments and After Henry. I am very fortunate to make a living (most of the time) from something I would do anyway. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to write. I still do, and I want to do it better. For more information about Simon why not visit his website www.simonbrett.com
